Connecting Creative People to Creative Places

Craft Expo Melbourne

There’s a NEW show in town for 2009…   CRAFTEXPO!

CraftExpo is an interactive new craft event developed by the organisers of the Craft & Quilt Fair that will appeal to anyone wanting to explore their creative side.

Fresh, fun, new and different, plus all your old favourites, CraftExpo will be held in Melbourne at the Royal Exhibition Building, Thursday October 8 – Sunday October 11, 2009.

CraftExpo promises inspiration with exclusive attractions and interactive features plus fun and education in daily workshops and demonstrations, not to mention – fabulous shopping.

Unleash your inner artist on the giant Paint-by-Numbers canvas where for a small donation, you can grab a paintbrush and make your mark on the massive mural under the guidance of some of Australia’s top decorative artists.

Inspired by the resurgence of vintage, retro and 50’s fashion, CraftExpo is conducting the Great  Apron Challenge. Channel your inner domestic goddess and buy an apron base for just $5, with all materials supplied by exhibitors, you’ll have one hour in the Bernina ‘Sew & Show Room’ to create an apron from a range of products before parading it on the catwalk in front of a panel of judges.

Sessions will run four times a day at 10.30am, 12.00pm, 1.30pm and 3.00pm. The lucky winner will walk away with a brand new Bernette sewing machine! Before taking up the challenge, get inspired by the display of fabulous aprons made by exhibitors.

My Place is a fascinating exhibition of 90 textile art quilts from across Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Each artist has interpreted the theme My Place in a very personal way. The exhibition is presented by acclaimed quilter Dijanne Cevaal.

From the leaders in papercraft and scrapbooking tools comes Fiskars’ Paper Inspirations – a special area where you can see all the latest and greatest ideas, products and techniques. Pick up a kit for $5 and join in a hands-on class, you’ll be amazed at what can be created with a little Fiskars magic and some paper!
