Paint to put a smile on the face of sick kids Massive Paint by Numbers mural to benefit
The Humour Foundation’s Clown Doctors
Pick up a paintbrush to be a part of CraftExpo’s special interactive feature, Paint By Numbers at the Royal Exhibition Building Melbourne, October 8th – 11th, 2009. In addition to making your mark on this colourful mural, you’ll also help the Humour Foundation’s Clown Doctors to put a smile on the faces of sick kids nationally.
Designed by Pam Jones of the Folk and Decorative Artists Association of Australia, the mural which consists of three canvases and stretches 9m long, has hundreds of design elements traced onto the colourful background.
Titled ‘Carousels’, the canvas was inspired by the thought of helping sick children and captures the journey from ill health in the darkest depths of the forest, to good health full of family and sunshine. “We are travelling along the River of Life looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead,” Pam said.
For a gold coin donation (or more if you’re feeling generous), you can help us fill in the blanks and complete the Paint By Numbers canvas and raise much needed funds for the Humour Foundation’s Clown Doctors. If you’re not much of a painter, you needn’t worry - members of the Folk & Decorative Artists Association of Australia will be there to guide you.
As a national charity supported solely by the community, the Clown Doctors are a group of gifted and talented professional performers dedicated to lightening the serious side of being in hospital by bringing fun and laughter to patients, families and staff. They touch the lives of over 85,000 people every year by spreading laughter to many hospitals around the country. Be sure to visit the website
www.craftexpo.net.au to see ‘Carousels’ come to life. You’ll see pictures of our painters and the progress we make each day. After the show, the canvas and all money raised will be donated to the
Humour Foundation.
So stop clowning around and head on down to CraftExpo. In addition to being a part of Paint By Numbers, you can get involved in many other interactive activities including The Great Apron Challenge, shop ‘till you drop for the best craft supplies, take your pick from a host of workshops and enjoy FREE stage presentations and seminars.
